Charles Deering (1852–1927) was a businessman, philanthropist, artist, and art collector. This talk will explore Deering’s distinct path as a cultural philanthropist and friend of artists (especially Ramón Casas, who along with Deering is the subject of a recent book co-authored by speaker Lindsay M. King) and the impact of his art collecting on Chicago from his time to our time. Please join us for a fascinating look at Charles Deering and his lasting influence on the art world.
