Teen Summer Reading Program offered at HCH Library

The Henry Carter Hull Library is hosting a summer reading challenge for teens and tweens grades seven through twelve.

Raffle tickets will be given for every two hours of reading completed, and can be put towards prizes including gift cards to Gamestop, R. J. Julia bookstore, iTunes, Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory, and Cold Stone Creamery.

The grand prize is a Flip MinoHD camcorder. The reading program ends Monday, August 8, 2011 and an end-of-summer party will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 where the raffle winners will be drawn.

More information and registration for the program is at www.hchlibrary.org/kids/teens.php.

Adopt an Author Program

Be first in line to read your favorite author’s new book
and help your library at the same time.

Here’s how it works: you agree to purchase one copy of each new book published by your favorite author for a one-year, renewable period at a discounted rate. In turn, you will be able to borrow the book first, for a special four-week loan period as soon as the book is available.

You will be notified of the book’s discounted cost at time of library’s purchase. Pay for the book when you check it out.

Once you return the book, it becomes part of our regular circulating collection. If you choose, you may be identified as the donor on a book plate inside the book. The library will post a list of adopted authors, so that you can check to see if your author is free to adopt.
