The Henry Carter Hull Library is pleased to offer its patrons free or discounted admission to many noteworthy area attractions, such as Mystic Aquarium, The Children's Museum of Southeastern CT & the Wadsworth Atheneum.

* On that day, come in and pick up the pass and leave us a $25 deposit check.

New Water Fountains at the Library


The HCH Library has installed two new water fountains, with a function to easily fill a water bottle. The new fountains are located on both floors near the restrooms.

Reminder: Download Free Audio Books at iConn

For two years, the Connecticut State Library has offered free downloadable audio books service to Connecticut library cardholders. The service includes over 1,300 digital audio book titles.

How do I browse for an audio book?
Click on the link above to browse the available audio books. Log into the website by clicking "LOGIN" on the top right corner of the audiobook website. Enter your 14 digit library barcode number and click "GO". Search for titles by using using links on left side of screen.

How many audio books may I check out?
Patrons may check out two audiobooks at a time to your home computer or transfer to your iPod, iPhone or media player that plays windows media audio (wma) files. You may download more books after your checkout time period is over. You may place up to three holds on titles at a time.

How do I download an audio book?
Select an audio book by adding the book to your bookshelf, or by placing a hold on the book if the title is checked out by another patron. Click on your "bookshelf"on top right of screen.

If the book is immediately available, you will see a "DOWNLOAD NOW" button. Before you download the audio book, install Ingram Media Manager for PC or Mac OS X using the correct shortcut on the download page. You will only have to download this once.

Once Ingram Media Manager is installed, click "download now" to download the audiobook.

If the audio book you requested is checked out by another patron, you will be notified by e-mail when the book is available for you to download.

What software do I need on my computer?
You need an Internet connection, Microsoft XP or Vista operating system, Mac OS X, and Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari. You must download Ingram Media Manager onto your computer to perform the download and transfer of the audio book. A shortcut to download Ingram Media Manager is available on the audio book download page.

You can listen to the audio books on your computer using Ingram Media Manager or transfer the book to your iPod, iPhone or wma compatible device. Click for a list of other compatible software required on your computer.

Can I download these audio books to The Henry Carter Hull Library's computers? Currently, this service is available for home computer use only.
