Blackjack workshop by Richard Harvey
July 19, 2010 * 6:30pm

Richard Harvey, a bestselling blackjack book author, will be at the Henry Carter Hull Library on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 6:30 pm to give a talk on improving your odds of winning at blackjack. Harvey is the author of a number of blackjack guides including "Blackjack the Smart Way" and he is recognized as one of the top authorities on the subject.

All playing levels, including beginners, are welcome. Registration is not required.


Awful Art Contest at the Henry Carter Hull Library July 17, 2010

The Henry Carter Hull Library will be holding an Awful Art contest on Saturday July 17, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Librarian David Boudinot will show images from the Museum of Bad Art near Boston and Claudia Mathison of the Guilford Art Center will be providing instruction and materials to create hideous artwork. From pipe cleaner sculpture and recycled art, to horrific collage, participants create and then vote on the worst art piece in each category. Prizes for group favorites will be awarded.

Participants must be 18 +, no artistic experience is necessary, but registration for this program is required by calling 860-669-2342.

4th Annual Edible Books Festival, July 8, 2010

The HCH Library's 4th Annual Edible Books Festival
Thursday, July 8, 2010

The Henry Carter Hull Library will be hosting the 4th Annual Edible Books Festival on Thursday, July 8, 2010 between 4 - 6 pm.

Participants are encouraged to create and share a delectable work of art inspired by their favorite book. Use your imagination! It doesn't have to be a cake, but it must be edible!
Those interested in joining the fun should bring their edible book to the
library on Thursday afternoon between 3:30 - 4 pm.

All entries will be eaten starting at 5:30 pm and coffee and juice will be provided.

This event is free and no registration is required.

Henry Carter Hull Library Celebrates Mark Twain during Centennial Memorial Day Picnic

Mark Twain impersonator Eric Schoeck (right), an Albertus Magnus College professor in real life, gave a witty speech at the Henry Carter Hull Library’s Memorial Day Community Picnic in Clinton, Connecticut. Some 200 people showed up to commemorate both the centennial of the author’s death in 1910 and the library’s 100-year birthday this year.
