History of Witchcraft Talk - Thurs 10/28/10

Prepare for Halloween with a haunting talk on witchcraft by Dr. Leslie Lindenauer of WestConn! She’ll uncover the history of witchcraft, witch‐hunting, and the roles witches have played in early American and popular culture. Registration is not required.

Business Center opens at the Henry Carter Hull Library

A new business resource center, complete with office equipment and resources for use by small business and the public, has officially opened at the Henry Carter Hull Library. Funded by a gift from the Sturges G. Redfield Family Foundation, the Business Resource Center includes a fax machine, color photocopier and scanner, wireless internet access, business books and reference material, and a new computer with Office Suite. Located on the second floor of the library, the Business Resource Center is open during regular library hours.


Clinton Author Lee Jacobus presents book "Crown Island"

Author Lee Jacobus of Clinton will be presenting his latest novel, Crown Island at the Henry Carter Hull Library on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 6:30 pm. Crown Island is set in the fictional Connecticut harbor community of Quarrytown, and it traces the magical world of Marie Wainwright and Peter Chello whose love defies class, status, and culture, all while they are married to others.

Computer Skills Sessions at Clinton Library in October

Librarians at the Henry Carter Hull Library will be offering one-on-one sessions in October to help you set up an email account, learn to Twitter, join Facebook or LinkedIn, and enhance your search skills using Google and online catalogs. Spaces are available Tuesdays from 1 - 3 pm.

Representatives from both the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center and Mark Twain House and Museum will be at the Henry Carter Hull Library on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 6:30 pm to talk about Uncle Tom’s Cabin and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
They will illuminate how these books had such a profound influence on race relations in the United States over the past 150 years, and why they continue to have relevance to our cross-cultural dialog today. Registration is not required for this free program.
